Parent Workshop Thursday February 23rd, 2017 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Kanata Highlands Public School Introduction to Mindfulness Workshop What: Introductory workshop offered to the parents only at Kanata Highlands. This workshop will include the following topics: what is mindfulness; research about the benefits of practicing mindfulness; the stress model, resiliency, and the physiology of practicing mindfulness; experiential exercises; and time for questions and answers. Parents will gain an understanding of how mindfulness is linked to what our students are learning about self-regulation and self-awareness through the Mindup program. We would like to request that parents register for the workshop, so we can ensure we meet your needs. http://tinyurl.com/gwwkc7 Presenter: Brittany Glynn, Ph.D., is a Certified Mindfulness-Based Symptom Management (MBSM) Teacher and a Trained Teacher in Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC). She co-facilitates eight-week MBSM and MSC group courses, while also leading various workshops related to mindfulness, compassion, behavior change, performance psychology, and how to implement self-care and long-term healthy habits for skillful living and well-being. She has led mindfulness and compassion workshops with counselors, parents, school teachers, healthcare professionals, university faculty and graduate students, yoga therapists, and wellness professionals. Currently she is a Postdoctoral Fellow exploring the effects of mindfulness interventions on chronic pain as part of the Interdisciplinary Pain Research Lab at The Ottawa Hospital.
